How to Transfer a Domain from GoDaddy

Step 1: Unlock Your GoDaddy Domain

  1. Log in to your GoDaddy account.
  2. Go to the “Domains” section.
  3. Find the domain you want to transfer and click on it.
  • Find the domain you want to transfer and click On in the Lock column next to it. It will be changed to Off once the domain is unlocked. then your transfere process will be strat:

NOTE: If you are using the default Domain Manager interface, make sure first to switch to the Advanced List view . Then toggle off the Lock button:

To bypass the domain lock, you have a couple of options. After completing the transfer, you can update your contact information with Namecheap or adjust the Administrative contact details at GoDaddy.

But in case you urgently need to modify the Registrant details at GoDaddy, you can request to opt out of the 60-day lock via email. Remember, this is only feasible if Domain Privacy is turned off beforehand.

Now, if your domain is already locked for the 60-day period, don’t worry. GoDaddy has a solution. Reach out to their Review 60 department at review60@godaddy.com, explain your situation, and they’ll assess whether they can remove the lock for you.

Step 2: Obtain Your GoDaddy Auth Code

  • While still in the domain settings, look for the “Authorization Code” option.
  • Click on it to generate your unique Auth Code.
  • Note down this code as you’ll need it for the domain transfer process.

NOTE: If you are using the default Domain Manager interface, it will look like this:

  • Now, Scroll down the page to the Transfer section and click on option on Transfer to Another Registrar:
  • Click on the Continue  button and start the process of your transfer
  • While still in the domain settings, look for the “Authorization Code” option.
  • Feel free to copy the code directly from this section. Moreover, you’ll receive the code in your administrative email address just in case you need it for future use.

Step 3: Disable GoDaddy Whois Privacy Protection (If Applicable)

               If you have GoDaddy privacy protection activated, keep in mind that they have a policy against allowing domain transfers. They’ll decline any transfer requests as long as Privacy Protection is active. To proceed with the transfer, you’ll need to disable it before submitting your transfer request.

How to Cancel Domain Protection with GoDaddy
  • Navigate to your domain settings.
  • Look for the “Domain Protection” or “Protection” option.
  • Disable this feature to cancel domain protection.

NOTE: If you are using the default Domain Manager interface in your GoDaddy account, choose Ownership from the action bar, then Downgrade Privacy Protection:

How to Turn Off Domains By Proxy Service with GoDaddy

  • Go to your domain settings.
  • Find the “Domains By Proxy” or “Proxy Service” option.
  • Turn off this service to reveal your domain’s information.
  • Click on continue.

Step 4: Accept the GoDaddy Transfer

  • Check your email for a transfer request from the new registrar.
  • Follow the provided link or instructions to accept the transfer.

NOTE: Select Transfers from the Domains menu if you are using the default Domain Manager interface:

  • Click on Transfers Out and select the domain name(s) you are transferring out of GoDaddy:
  • Select Approve Transfer and click OK. The request will be processed within 15 minutes.and your transfer process is start
